How come you are saving all my old chatboard messages? Also, how does your buddy with the 250 deal with the suspension shortcomings or is he a skinny little dude? I found fork springs already and I suppose I can put in heavier viscosity fork fluid, but the rear could use some help and a steering damper would really make a big difference. I just read a a funny article about a guy with a 250. He points out the same damping problems and says KAwasaki should be ashamed, but after 13 years they have learned to live with the shame. I didn't know the 250 had been around that long. He also says that the 250 is into S&M because it practically begs to be flogged. I agree with that. I can no way keep that thing within the break-in parameters. I got up to an indicated 95 this morning. That steering looseness bothers me as much as the soft forks. Does your buddy use an aftermarket damper? L,r

I tried signing up for messenger, but can't do it because I don't have an admin account here at work. I will install it at home, but this is the best I can do from work. L,r

They don't give weights on their helmets! Not a huge deal for short hops, but for longer rides weight can be a killer. I have vertebrae injuries myself and my neck gets stiff and sore quickly. A heavy helmet would kill me. L,r

    That's a crazy airplane story. L,r

I will check out the helmets, but I am pretty satisfied with the gear I have now. As I said I have ridden extensively and know what I am getting into here. I will be upgrading along and will give you a shout for your recommendations. The AFX helmet actually looks pretty good and is nice and lightweight, so I don't know if I will be returning it or not. But I will look over what scorpion has. Shoei was the best when I was riding last - lightweight and tough. That's why I started looking at them. Price scared me away pretty quickly. L,r

Full coverage AFX helmet on order. Wanted a Shoei, but can't afford right now. Have a leather bib ordered as well as a vest and jacket with removable armor panels. Also have a couple of leather jackets and a waterproof windbreaker. I have a bellaclava somewhere and glove liners along with silk longjohns for cold weather. I also ordered gauntlet style gloves and regular sport riding gloves. I have ridden in wintertime before and know what I am up against there. I also got a disk lock, a 15mm hardened steel cable lock, and a chain lock to secure that thing to my old pickup bumper so it doesn't run off. Gotta dig up a backpack and some bungie cords to haul my crap to work. What else? L,r

I am picking up my new Ninja 250 tomorrow. I know, I know... But I know what I am doing. It is perfect for me at this time and will give me the chance to see just how enthused I am about riding again. It has been over 10 years since I swung a leg over one. If I decide to go for distance, I will have to trade up - I know that already. But for my 25 mile one-way commute and trips through town to the nursing home, it should be ideal and 60+ mpg. There are lots of reasons for my decision. I may post on them. It is supremely flickable and will do 100+. That is what I need. 'Sides it has a new warranty and is affordable. Hope all is going well with you. L,r

Eric, I am beat. Too much going on right now. Will get back with you when things settle a bit. The SV-650S is interesting. Lightweight and narrow. I like that. Fairly inexpensive. Might be a good choice. L,r
  • SugarBlue2
You got all my answers. Sorry, I always delete for privacy. I have considered the SV1000 and it is just not nearly the bike the FZ is. I think I may try for an FZ and if they won't approve me, I will go with the 600. I am kind of intrigued by the 600 anyway as it is super light. It won't torque like the grand will, but from what I am reading it will have plenty of HP anyway and more affordable. I can always bump up later if I just have to. I am playing catchup today. I will try the yahoo tonight if I have time. My daughter uses it so at least she will know how to set it up. Later, Ron

Wednesday, February 22. You needed $1000 by 6pm the next day. You learned how to receive from God that day. And your needs were met. Mark 11:24.
